GreenPeace USA Charged with Obscure 19th C Law

Sat Nov 15, 2003 at 04:19:17 AM PDT

Just when I think I can't dislike the Bush admin. any more, there's always something else:

Read this:

U.S. takes hard line on Greenpeace

The gist of it is that, rather than charging the Greenpeace members with tresspasing or whatever misdemeanor it was they committed in one of their usual boat boarding incidents, the Ashcroft Justice Department decided to charge the entire organization with a 19th century law.  If the DOJ is succesful, Greenpeace could be destroyed by losing its non-profit status.

We are now yet another step closer to living in Stalinist Russia.
